Black Women + Creativity

And so our mothers and grandmothers have, more often than not anonymously, handed on the creative spark, the seed of the flower they themselves never hoped to see: or like a sealed letter they could not plainly read.–Alice Walker, In Search of our Mother’ Gardens

Creativity is our superpower. Creativity is ancestral. Creativity is directly linked to joy. The Black Women + Creativity interview series showcases how Black women uniquely define and express their creativity. The intention of this series is to draw on the wisdom of 100 Black women; inspire people to light their creative spark and express it unbothered in the world.

The micro-interviews focus on 2 simple questions:
1. Fill in the blank: Creativity is _________.

2. How do you express your creativity?

3. What advice would you give someone who feels like they are stuck in a creative rut?
